contact sheet B — six photographs

status: partly retracted / working notes by r.

contact sheet B / original identification withdrawn
six photographs are not necessarily six birds.

The red circles were added before i checked whether the photographs showed the same side of the bird. This was a mistake. I am leaving the circles in because removing them would make the process look much better than it was.

The headline says “different city”. The pictures themselves do not establish a city. A paving stone is not a location. A curb is not a passport. I should have asked for the original negatives before writing anything.

What remains interesting is how readily the eye supplies a pattern once something has been circled. Look at the feet, then the backgrounds, then the feet again. At some point every pigeon begins to look like the pigeon you are expecting.

This file used to be called IDENTIFICATION_CONFIRMED. It is now called contact sheet B. I have kept the old title here so the links from earlier notes make sense.

correction / qualification: Same-bird identification withdrawn. Image sequence retained for comparison with the service-manual foot note.
